Finding meaning after loss
Following a loss, our grief can be so unbearable and all-consuming that life becomes difficult to live. Feelings of deep sadness, distress, loneliness, guilt, anger and other painful emotions can leave us feeling totally overwhelmed. We may also struggle to feel accepted by others in our grief. In the absence of someone or something that held such significance, we can feel lost and confused, as though we don’t know who we are anymore. It can be difficult to imagine that purpose and meaning in life is possible again.
It is at these times that grief counselling can be of help. I offer a respectful, supportive and open-minded space to share these and other unique feelings and responses that can be a part of grief. A space to explore how your loss has affected you, your relationships and how you view the world.
Through an approach based on genuineness, acceptance and collaboration, greater understanding about your grief will be found. Alongside finding ways to cope and recover from your loss, opportunities for re-affirming and finding new meanings in life will also emerge.
